MANA is a national network of masjids, Muslim organizations and individuals committed to work together to address certain urgent needs within the Muslim community. These needs include the great social and economic problems that are challenging Muslim communities especially in the inner city; the need for the involvement of masjids and Muslims in community service projects which are aimed at improving society as a whole; the need for systematic and effective dawah programs to help bring more non-Muslims into Islam.

MANA inherits its mission from those Black/African American Muslim Pioneers and freedom-fighters - from enslaved Africans hundreds of years past to those 20th Century giants who introduced Islam into popular American culture.

MANA was started by some of the most notable African American Muslim leaders along with other notable multiethnic leaders to focus on problem-solving and resource enhancement among the African American community and underserved groups. MANA’s current focus is The State of the African American Muslim Community.

Currently MANA does not offer any classes, but MANA does work within the network to bring educational content through lecture series and Islamic orientation courses.

The current President of MANA is Dr. Joshua Salaam, who presides over the Board of Directors.

MANA derives its values and approach to activism from what is most compatible with the tenants of Al-Islam. MANA is committed to antiracism work and welcomes opportunities to build coalitions and work with allies.
