Meet Malika Umar, our dynamic Network Coordinator! In her role, Malika collaborates with three active cohorts to bring their annual final projects to life. Her passion for preserving the legacy of African-American Muslims inspired her to join the MANA team. Malika’s academic research delves into the history of African-American Muslim communities and explores Afrofuturism through an Islamic perspective. A lifelong learner, Malika enjoys photography, filmmaking, participant observation, and discovering the most walkable cities. Originally from Albany, NY, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Anthropology from Harvard University (Class of 2023) and is preparing to pursue a graduate degree.
We are so delighted to have Malika on our team. She is an incredible asset! MashaAllah, tabarakaAllah, and alhamdulillah!
