What story, reflection, insight, or creative expression has been waiting within you to be shared?

MANA welcomes original submissions for our blog and newsletter. We are seeking thoughtful work that informs, inspires, uplifts, and reflects the experiences, wisdom, creativity, concerns, and accomplishments of the African American Muslim community.

Submissions may include:

• Personal stories and reflections

• Articles and essays

• Community news and initiatives

• Islamic insights and perspectives

• Interviews and historical pieces

• Poetry and other original written expressions

Submission Lengths

• Standard articles and essays: 750–1,000 words

• Feature or in-depth submissions: 1,200–1,500 words

• Poetry: Up to three poems per submission

Please include

• A brief biography of up to 125 words

• A clear, high-resolution photograph of yourself

• Sources or citations for quotations, statistics, and historical information

• Photo, if any, to use within the article

• ⁠Photo credits and written permission for any images you did not create or photograph yourself

Publication Priorities

1. Original, unpublished work

Priority consideration will be given to original submissions that have not previously been published in print or online. If accepted, these works may be published in full on the MANA blog (www.manajustice.org/blog) and featured in the MANA newsletter.

2. Recently published work

MANA will also consider relevant articles published by another source within the past six months. When selected, MANA will provide a brief introduction or excerpt and direct readers to the original publication through a link. Previously published articles will not be reproduced in full on MANA’s platforms without written permission from the copyright holder.

Please include the original article link, publication name, author’s name, and publication date when submitting or recommending previously published work.

Original submissions selected for publication may be edited for clarity, length, grammar, and alignment with MANA’s mission and communications standards.
