A recent update has brought renewed national focus as Kairi Al-Amin shares concerning news about his father, Imam Jamil Al-Amin. Medical experts now estimate that Imam Jamil has less than a year to live, turning his ongoing legal battle into an urgent matter. May Allah grant him health, prosperity, longevity, and freedom, inshaAllah. Ameen.
The announcement arrives alongside significant developments in advocacy efforts. Supporters recently surpassed a fundraising milestone for an upcoming documentary series by contributing $228,000. The documentary promises to expose judicial irregularities in Imam Jamil’s trial. Imam Jamil was wrongfully accused of the murder of a Fulton County, GA sheriff’s deputy and wounding another, although none of the conflicting descriptions of the assailant on the scene matched Imam Jamil.1 There is disputed ballistics evidence, inconsistent eyewitness testimony, and a statement by a man, Otis Jackson, who confessed to being the killer.
“Our mission remains unchanged,” Kairi stated, “to restore my father’s freedom and legacy, even if he only experiences one day of vindicated liberty.” His rallying cry: “We fight till there’s nothing left to fight for.”
Kairi emphasizes that all they need are prayers. We urge supporters to amplify this message through social media campaigns and encourage imams to highlight Imam Jamil’s plight during their Friday sermons.
Imam Jamil’s journey is one of symbolic power and a testament to resilience. Securing his freedom would represent not just personal justice, but a chance to challenge systemic failures that continue to disproportionately incarcerate Black Americans and target political prisoners.
